Profile of the Department
The Department of Information technology was bifurcated from the Department Of Computer Science in the year 2007. It offers programmes such as M.Sc. Computer Science (M.Sc. CS) with specialization of Data Science, M.Sc. Information Technology (M.Sc. IT) with specialization of Internet of Things, Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science and Applications (PGDCSA). The Department is in the School of Computing Sciences, has the autonomy in framing courses for its various programmes. It is one among the biggest departments in Shift-II comprising of around 500 students and 14 faculty members. Four of the faculty members have completed their Ph.D., and all the faculty members have completed their M.Phil., 8 of them have registered for the Ph.D. programme and are currently pursuing their research. One of the staff members has presented a paper in Singapore. One of the faculty members have qualified for both NET and SET, and one of them has qualified for SET. The department offers various training programmes for the students to make them industry ready. The Department has helped to place students in various MNCs. The students of the Department have developed software applications to assist the IQAC in choosing electives and student feedback. The Department has signed five MoUs with industries to promote placements and to provide industry exposure to the students during major projects as well as to provide training in the form of workshops, seminars in both ends.
